Santa and little boyProject 600
Thursday, December 10, 2009

For over 20 years, Project 600 has brought the joy of Christmas to over 600 four- and five-year-old children from the poorest areas of Denver.  This is a day that will warm your heart!  Adults and young people from grades 8-12 help at the party - running games, playing with the kids, painting faces, facilitating arts and crafts, handing out balloons, or helping Santa himself.  It's a busy day, but very much worth the effort.

Project 600 dates:

Weekends in November - Toy collections: Parishioners and neighbors donate hundreds of brand new toys for 4- and 5-year-old children.  We ask that you only donate toys that do not need batteries, as these children come from families that don't have a lot of resources.  Please drop off toy donations in the marked boxes at all entrances to the church.  We also need donations of tape, wrapping paper, and money to pay for the professional entertainers.

Sunday, December 6th - Wrapping party: Join us in the Youth Center from 12:00-5:00pm to wrap all the presents that are donated for the party.

Wednesday, December 9th - Set-up: Open to everyone who wants to help transform the Youth Center and Parish Hall into a winter wonderland for the party.  All participants who will be at the party on Thursday are expected to help with set-up, which starts at 3:00pm and ends at 8:00pm (or whenever we finish).

Thursday, December 10th - Party: Celebrate the joy of Christmas with 600 kids!  Participants must be in 8th grade or older.

Download the forms below for more information.  All youth who participate in the party on December 10th must have a signed permission slip because you will miss a full day of school!  Please contact Sue or David in the Youth Center at 303-220-3388 for details.

24 Hour Food Fast

February 19-20, 2010

Seize an opportunity to make a difference in the world around you.  Join us for the Food Fast, an overnight service experience. In preparation for the event, you will gather sponsors from among your family and friends who are willing to donate money toward Support Africa Foundation International, an organization that works with the poorest villages in western rural Kenya.  With the money that we raise, the 2010 Alternative Summer Break team will be able to help build a well in a village in that area of Africa.  We need to raise $3,000 to build the well, but if we all work together it can be done!

For the Fast, we'll gather at STM to spend the 24 hours together.  We fast to be in solidarity with the poor (though we do take juice breaks, just to keep our mineral levels up).  During our Fast, we'll spend time in local service projects, prayer, discussion, praise and worship and games.

Interested in making a difference?  Check out the Fast in 2010.  Call Sue at 303-220-3388 x3 if you have any questions.

Inner City of Denver Mission Trip
2010 dates TBA

There are so many opportunities to serve - some of them are in our own backyard.  Spend a long weekend living and serving downtown with a small group of friends.  You'll never look at Denver in the same way again.  Look for information about the Inner City trip at the end of the school year.
