Word
Next meeting: October 17
Join us for Word, a monthly Bible study that meets on Saturday mornings. Meet at the Youth Center at 10:10am to catch a ride to Einstein's Bagels. There we'll share some tasty breakfast and break open the Word of God together. It's a time to dive into Scripture, get to know others in a small group setting, and be challenged and encouraged in faith. Bring your own Bible!
Boo Dance 2009
Friday, October 30th
8:00-11:00pm
Grab your favorite costume (or create one on the spot) and come to the annual Boo Dance the night before Halloween. Admission is $5 per person, or $3 if you bring 2 cans of food to donate to the Food Bank. Prizes will be awarded for best costume. See the flier for details or call David Tschumper, 303-220-3388 ext. 1.
Turkey Bowl Flag Football
Saturday, November 28th
1:00-3:30pm
Work off all that Thanksgiving feast food with a good game of flag football. The Turkey Bowl is a time-honored tradition and a highlight of the holiday weekend. Be sure to dress for the weather (even if it's a nice day there may be snow covering the field) and bring your own waterbottle. We play on the fields at Willow Creek Park, just down the street from St. Thomas More (follow Otero/Mineral east of the church, until the first stop sign). See the flier for details. Both middle school and high school youth are welcome, but they play on separate fields (so we don't end up with squished middle school kids!)
Advent Formal 2009
Sunday, December 20th
5:30-9:30pm
So many things to celebrate on December 20th - Advent, the end of school, the end of finals...let's dance! The Advent Formal is open to all high school youth, and parishes around STM will also bring their kids, so it'll be a great night. Dress is formal or semi-formal. Ladies are encouraged to wear your best dresses (here's your chance to wear your homecoming or Prom dress again!) and gentlemen are encouraged to wear a suit or a tie and jacket. We'll attend the 5:30pm LIFE TEEN Mass together, then head to the Padre for a special catered dinner. After that, it's fun and dancing in the Youth Center. The cost for the evening is only $5 per person. Call David Tschumper or Sue Frank if you have questions, 303-220-3388.
World Youth Day
Madrid, Spain 2011 - we're already preparing!
The next international World Youth Day will be in Madrid, Spain in 2011. All youth who will be at least 16 years of age by August 2011 will be eligible to participate, so if you're interested, start praying about it. If you missed the information meeting, please get in touch with David Tschumper as soon as possible for more information, 303-220-3388 ext. 1. WYD 2011 might seem like it's still a long ways off, but we will start gathering our pilgrim group and preparing for the journey within the next few months. Please download the application below if you're thinking of joining us.
Thanks to everyone who prayed for us during our amazing pilgrimage to Sydney, Australia in 2008! Click on the Word document below to read excerpts from Sue's pilgrim journal.
The Spark
Interested in journalism? Then the Spark is for you! The Spark is our youth newsletter, published as part of the parish More Informed every other month. So this is your chance to get your writing into the hands of thousands of people several times a year. Spark meetings are held right before Servant Leadership Nights (at 5:00pm) in Sue's office, every other month. Please check the calendar for the next scheduled Spark meeting.
High School Road Trips
Throughout the year, we offer various events in and around Colorado to give everyone a chance to get away and explore something different. We'll go to Water World, strike into the wilderness on a backpacking trip, play Frisbee golf, bike down to Chatfield, attend concerts, and much more. See the calendar for more information.
Congratulations to our 2009 STM softball team!
Every summer, the Archdiocese sponsors a youth co-ed softball league. All ability levels are welcome and encouraged to join us. Practices are on Thursday nights and start in May; games are on Sunday evenings throughout June and July, with the final tournament in late July or early August. Start looking for information in April. Permission Slip required!
