Parents Day Out Teacher of St. Thomas More Parents Day Out and Preschool Program
Children 18-months and walking - 3-year-olds
Teachers of St. Thomas More Parents Day Out and Preschool are responsible to the Program Director and Assistant Director, the Director of Catechesis, the Pastor, and the Archbishop of Denver.
BASIC FUNCTION:
Provide a developmentally appropriate environment that encourages the child to grow physically, mentally, socially, emotionally, and spiritually. Focus areas are gross motor development, fine motor development, language development, and social interaction.
QUALIFICATIONS AND HIRING REQUIREMENTS: Teamwork essential--part of a 2-member teaching team. Applicants need to meet May 2010 group leader qualifications as stated in the State of Colorado Rules Regulating Child Care Centers. Experience in Early Childhood Education a plus. Hiring procedures include:
-Submit to criminal background checks conducted by the Colorado Bureau of Investigation by submitting a complete set of fingerprints and by the Central Registry of Child Protection agency.
-Provide a statement of good health and immunization status upon employment.
-Sign a statement pertaining to the reporting of child abuse.
-Hold current certificates in first aid, CPR, Medication Administration, and Universal Precautions or will obtain. (On-site training provided in August).
-Complete requirement papers and training per the Archdiocese of Denver including a Code of Conduct of the Archdiocese of Denver and attending the Archdiocese of Denver Safe Environment Training course.
-Complete 15 clock hours of continuing education yearly (May 1 to April 30) in the field of Early Childhood Education.
DUTIES-Shall include but not be limited to:
-Maintain the safety and well being of the children at all times.
-Promote Christian morals and values through the modeling of behavior, manners, and teachings.
- Write and implement lesson plans based on developmental appropriate practices for toddlers to include art, music, physical growth and health, social studies and science (environment), math, religion, and literacy.
-Write monthly newsletter article.
-Maintain documentation on children on progress and provide information to parents.
-Prepare classroom with developmentally appropriate activities and supplies.
-Wash equipment regularly or as needed.
-Follow developmentally appropriate practices as directed by program director/assistant director.
HOURS:
Employment year is from mid-August through early-June.
Hours are 9:00 A.M. to 2:00 P.M. Minimum of one required planning meetings per month, 30 - 40 minutes each, in addition to classroom teaching time.
Part-time status (15 hours weekly) with working lunch period, hourly salary based on group leader qualifications and experience. No paid benefits (health insurance, holiday, sick or vacations pay).
