We had an awesome week at

Vacation Bible School!

July 7, 2009

Dear VBS Families and Volunteers,

What a phenomenal week!  Thank you so much for being a part of God’s Big Backyard!  The 321 students of VBS not only prayed together and learned Bible stories together, they accomplished soooo many service projects, I just had to tell you about them!

This Vacation Bible School was all about service:  service to our family & friends, neighbors & community and of course, service to Jesus.  In addition to what the children did at home, several service projects were accomplished, and I wanted to give you an explanation of how well it all went.

Hundreds of canned goods and non-perishables were donated during Snack on Monday;

          All three food collection bins at church were filled!

          All of these donations were taken to the food banks yesterday, July 6.

Over 1500 children’s books were donated during Story on Tuesday & Wednesday!

            Older VBS students learned how to repair the ones needing repairs.

            Four different entities received the books:

                        STM Church Library – 1 case of religious books delivered July 2

                        Tri-County Health Department – 8 cases of books picked up July 2

                        Ute Academy in Ignaccio, Colorado – 8 cases of books delivered July 6

                        Ethiopia Reads – 8 cases of books picked up July 6

                        The reading books for adults were given to the Highlands Ranch Library on July 6.

Two car loads of diapers, students’ supplies, baby essentials, and socks & underwear were donated for Samaritan House in Denver, Colorado on Thursday.

            One carload went to Samaritan House on July 2 after our program;

            The other carload will be delivered in August.

The children also completed several projects here on the STM campus.  The 5th grade class pulled out the crayons that were broken in the pen holders of the church pews.  The 4th grade classes dug up old grass and planted new seed outside the R. E. entrance to the building.  Each 3rd grade had a different project helping various church departments, from stocking supplies, to sorting music and flag football flags, to cleaning the church, to making thank you notes for the church & school staff.  Each 2nd grade class made Get Well Cards for our veterans, and 1st grade classes made thank you cards for our parishioners who pledge financial support to St. Thomas More.

Save the dates and join us next year!
